Local Wollongong Surf & Coal Coast Photography… And Why I Love It
My earliest memory of a photograph is the iconic 1937 Max Dupain sunbather shot. I first saw this as an eight year old. It had a profound effect on me as it connected me with the concept of time and that it can be frozen if only in the photo.
As long as I can remember I have been recording my own moments in time and associated experiences receiving my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic for Christmas in 1973.
At school I can recall spending many a day looking out of the classroom window framing a shot of the world around me, studying what was going on rather than studying how the world worked.
My philosophy is there are always two people in my photos, me and the viewer. When I click the shutter and the image clicks with people that is the best feeling.
I hope you enjoy viewing my moments in time as much as I enjoy capturing them.
